Five Ways To Prevent Silver from Tarnishing
Now, the demand for gold has skyrocketed. They are importantly viable and they are pleasant embellishments to any one's collections. Still, the number one problem faced by silver owners and collectors is silver tarnishing. Why does silver tarnish, especially sterling silver? How can it be prevented?
Naturally, silver is not that reactive like the other metals. In an average environment, it doesn’t react with basic elements like oxygen and water. Yet, when mixed with other metals and elements, the purity of silver can decrease causing tarnishing and rusting to develop. Copper can react with oxygen in the air as with the Sodium Chloride also known as table salt. Sodium chloride can erode and the erosion can appear on silver containers or shakers. Similarly, tarnish is what develops when silver becomes silver sulfide. What happen is that the usual silvery color turns dark black. It is average in silvers spoon or metals. Use Aluminum Foil
Here is an easy way to cleanse stubborn tarnish in bracelets or teapots. Firstly, comprise the inside bottom of the glass heat proof dish. Then, get an aluminum foil and place one silvery sheet of aluminum inside. The silvery sheet must be placed inside up. Put the discolored and tarnished silver pieces at the bottom of the dish and add one big tablespoon of baking soda. Progressively pour boiling water over it until it covers the whole piece. Baking soda is very expedient in maintaining the loveliness of silvery jewelries and other silver items. Just mix a paste of baking soda and water. Deliberately rub the silver with the mixture. Rinse and dry with a clean piece of cloth. If you have silvery flatware at home, simply sprinkle the baking soda on a moist cloth and rub it on the flatware gently.
Use Chalk

Apply Toothpaste
Cover your sterling silver with a commercial toothpaste to remove stubborn stains and tarnish. Next, run it under warm water. Make a lather then rinse it off. For hard to reach areas use soft bristle toothbrush.
Store It Appropriately
If you are not wearing your sterling silver, ensure that you deposit your pieces properly. Before storing your silvery pieces, cover them in a jewelry polishing cloth. Find a plastic zip-lock bag or a basic sandwich bag and place the cloth inside. Zip-lock bags are suggested because it can prevent moisture from getting inside.
