Live In New York $21.90 Laurie Anderson scored an improbable hit in the early `80s with the atmospheric “O Superman,” a song that appears near the end of this exhaustive two-disc live set. Despite a new arrangement, the track sounds just as entrancing as it did 20 years ago, if only because the 90 minutes leading up to it features some of the most complex, dreamlike, and unnerving music ever produced. But given that thes… |
Make Money from Books  by Kam
Did you read comics as a kid? Then you could have $38,000 sitting in your attic…let me explain…
If you have ever wanted ways to make money from home…or possibly escape your 9 to 5 job…then these ideas could help.
Comics and comic-books have risen sharply in value since the banking sector decided to offer very little in terms of investment with your money you deposit with them. Just check out the interest rates at your local banks.
Comics are now very much sought after by the serious investor…
The Golden Era between the 1930’s and the 1940’s are the most valuable. This time period introduced us to the first editions of US comics like “Superman” and also British comics like “The Dandy”.
Then there is the Silver Era between the 1950’s and the 1960’s. This period was dominated by US publishers – DC Comics and Marvel. They introduced to the world “Spiderman”, the “X-Men” and the “Incredible Hulk”.
With filmmakers turning most of these Superheroes into real life on the big screen these comics still remain very popular and recognisable even to the younger generation.
Even comics dating back to only 1995 have been known to sell for $1600. Look out for the “Dark Knight Returns”, the new version of “Batman” which was launched in 1987, and also look out for the “Watchmen”.
You could spend some time at a collector’s fair or at a comic store and look at back issues of The Comic Journal.
Marked or well-thumped or even torn comics are still valuable but pristine mint-condition copies command the highest prices.
Look out for special editions where famous characters made their first or last appearance. For example the first ever “Spiderman” comic from 1963 is worth up to $32,000 in mint-condition.
Boost the value of second-hand books by 40%...100%...200% or even more…
Look to buy second-hand copies of books by popular modern authors such as Ruth Rendall, Maeve Binchy, Nick Hornby…you get the idea. As long as they’re alive, you can add at least 40% to their value of their earlier works.
Just watch out for book signings by these authors at your local bookstore.
The author will be likely promoting their new book and instead ask them to sign an old second-hand book from an earlier work they had done. You have just instantly added money to the resale value of that book.
Remember to ask them just to sign it and not dedicated to anyone in particular…if you don’t it can make it harder to sell...just ask the author to sign it “Best Wishes” and their name.
